Hi, my name is Mark Wolfe and I have bought Hurley Blakeney's Silent Thunder T-Bird.

I have only had it out a few times in the past month since I got it.We are updating the fuel system to a new accel dfi and also put a liberty pro mod 4 speed in it.

The last time out it went 6.71 at 221.94 on a horrible run.I didn't have enough air gap in the clutch and it rolled the beams about 4 feet until I just said ok lets go and let the clutch out.It only had a 1.25 60' and got real loose at mid track.

If you want to see the run it's on www.missionraceway.com look under the mega ford race weekend results and there is a vid in the middle of the page.

We hope to run the west coast div 6 and 7 next year and 5 or 6 nationals.

It's nice to be back racing,I raced comp in 2000 and 2001 with a C/A ford probe.
Hanna working towards 2008 as a free agent

RICHWOOD, Texas - Following the sale of much of the Clack Motorsports Top Alcohol Funny Car equipment, team driver Will Hanna enters the remainder of the season as a 'free agent' driver. After breaking into the 5.60's at the recent ACDelco Gatornationals, Hanna plans to diligently pursue another ride for the 2008 season or sooner.

Hanna, 27, of Richwood, Texas, received news earlier in the week that Team Owner Harry Clack had made the decision to sell the race team to focus on his new business venture, a sports bar/resturaunt, The Big Easy Daiquiri Factory in Orange Beach, Ala.

"I completely understand and respect Harry's decision to focus on his new business," said Hanna. "There is no ill will on either side, it was just a business decision on Harry's part. I wish him the best and hope to see him back on the scene when his business allows. He took a big chance on a rookie and stuck with me while I was developing. We made great strides the past two races, but business trumps racing in the absence of a major sponsor. I really enjoyed the two years we raced together and I'll always be grateful of the opportunity Harry gave me."

Prior to driving, Hanna Crew Chiefed Jason Cannon to a 2003 Division 2 Championship in Top Alcohol Dragster. While he's searching for another ride, Hanna will return to turning wrenches for Australian Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Steve Harker.

"I went to work for Steve last year after we had finished running our car for a few races," explained Hanna. "I learned a great deal from him last year, and he was a big part of our success this year. I'll be racing with him the rest of the year. The goal is to take some of the pressure of between round maintenance off his shoulders and let him focus on driving and tuning. They're great people to work for, we have good team chemistry, and I look forward to helping them win races."

Heckel signs Goodridge Hoses & Fittings for 2007

LA PORTE, Texas - Current NHRA B/Dragster National Record Holder Shane Heckel has announced the signing of Goodridge Hoses & Fittings as an associate sponsor for the 2007 season. Heckel will use Goodridge's XF-900 Smoothbore hose and fittings in his quest for the Division 4 title.

Heckel, who helps run the family businesses, HHH Car Ports and Ballistic Race Craft, in La Porte, Texas, is excited about the newest addition to his 200 mph dragster.

"Heckel Racing is proud to have Goodridge Hoses and Fittings on board with us this year!" said Heckel. "On top of having a great performing product, I believe they are they safest and best looking hoses on the market, bar none. We will do our best to represent Goodridge Hoses and Fittings in the winner's circle."

Chuck Westcott, director of motorsports for Goodridge, is also excited about bringing Heckel to the growing list of racers utilizing Goodridge's line of hoses and fittings.

"We're very excited to bring Heckel Racing into the growing list of top caliber drag racing teams running Goodridge Hoses and Fittings," stated Westcott. "We feel Competition Eliminator is a good market for us because it's a class where every little bit counts. We feel Heckel Racing will be a great representative of the edge we can provide."

Heckel will make his 2007 debut at his home track of Houston Raceway Park for the Division 4 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series opener, Feb. 16-18.

Rodger Brogdon awarded “Goodguy of the Year”

This past weekend during the NHRA Lucas Oil division Four awards banquet in Houston TX, Rodger Brogdon was awarded the prestigious Division 4 “Good Guy of the Year” award. The award was presented this year to Brogdon for his continued behind the scenes efforts that include sponsorship of the Comp Eliminator category in the division and establishing and maintaining an eliminator bonus contingency program that is now being duplicated across the country. Rodger this past year also established a “Raise the Roof” fundraising program to generate support for announcer Lynn Nickerson and his battle with cancer. The program has generated a tremendous response from all spectrums of the racing community, as well as a substantial amount of fan support and contributions for the ailing Nickerson.

For Brogdon, a multi time division champion and two-time “Driver of the Year” it was a fitting conclusion to a very productive campaign in the Lucas Oil sportsman ranks. With the start of the 2007 POWERade championship season just thirty days away, this weekend also saw Rodger’s team put the finishing touches on a new Jerry Haas Pro Stock Dodge Stratus that the team plans to debut at the season opening Winternationals.

First laps for Rodger will come this week in Houston as the team shakes out the new car, and then it’s off to the various test sessions in the south before heading to Las Vegas for the Pro Stock Showdown on February third. With a supply of fresh David Nickens Hemi power plants loaded in the trailer, the team plans for numerous test sessions to get both car and driver dialed in prior to the start of the 2007 season.

With Rodger Brogdon’s noted driving ability, and the additions to his championship team that have occurred during the off season, the Pro Stock category just got that much that much tougher. 2007 is going to be a very interesting year.
Hanna debuts InsideFastBrackets.com to cover Top Sportsman & Top Dragster

RICHWOOD, Texas - After successfully developing two drag racing news forums, InsideTopAlcohol.com and InsideCompRacing.com, Will Hanna has created a new forum - InsideFastBrackets.com, serving the growing Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and Top Comp classes. Hanna, who as a driver bracket raced before moving up into Top Alcohol Funny Car two years ago is excited about doing a site that goes back to his racing roots.

Hanna, 27, a graduate of the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a Bachelors of Business Administration in General Business, hopes to create the same online community for the "Top" category racers that he has with InsideTopAlcohol.com and InsideCompRacing.com.

"There's no doubt about it, over the past few years, the faster bracket categories - Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and Top Comp are the fastest growing categories in drag racing," said Hanna. "I started out bracket racing, so I can really appreciate what they do. Hopefully we can do what we did for the Top Alcohol racers and Comp racers; create them their own online 'home.' It provides a great medium not only to interact with other racers and fans, but the sanctioning bodies themselves."

"We strive to maintain a quality atmosphere," Hanna continued. "Our forums aren't about badmouthing someone, trash talking and the like just to get cheap and easy traffic. We encourage objective conversation and debate. We also provide a free classifieds for racers along with a tech question section that have been very successful on our other sites. We not only want to entertain the racers, we want our site to be a useful tool to them."

Hanna debuted his first website, InsideTopAlcohol.com (formerly InsideFMRacing.com) in 2001, which has quickly become the center of the worldwide Alcohol Racing community. In January of 2006, he debuted InsideCompRacing.com to cover NHRA's Competition...
With the words “Go away rain” Rodger Brogdon and the RoofTec team hit the road for this weekends LODRS event at Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds, GA. After suffering a complete washout at the initial weekend of the Torco Fuels Nationals in Virginia two weeks ago, the team headed home for the final LODRS in Division 4 in Noble, OK last weekend. After two great days of qualifying in perfect weather conditions, Sunday was a complete washout, and the race was forced to be rescheduled for completion on Friday, October 27th.

“You would think we’re the cause for the rain” said Brogdon, “It seems like everywhere we go of late Mother Nature just doesn’t want us to finish a race.” “We’ve got to go to Georgia now. We need to win a race on the division level to help us close out this 2006 season.” “With just the few remaining races left, we need to get some rounds in. The car’s ready, the RoofTec team is ready, we just need some sunshine on race day!”

With the opportunity to score divisional round wins now being limited to the LODRS events in Georgia, the make-up in Oklahoma, and the final LODRS event of the year in Las Vegas, the team is going to need Mother Nature to take a break. Now with three races in three weekends and going from the east coast to the west coast, Pete, Scott, Brian and the rest of the team are going to be logging miles behind the wheel of the transporter while Brogdon logs the laps down the quarter mile.

Qualifying for this weekend’s event in Reynolds, GA gets underway this Friday, with the field being set after qualifying ends on Saturday. With many of the east coast competitors also looking to gain their final points of the season, look for the field to be very stout, and eliminations to force Rodger Brogdon to have to use all the Brogdon Racing Engines horsepower that the team can give him.

The weather forecast for this weekend does hold promise, at least for Friday & Saturday. Sunday however shows a chance of precipitation, again. As...
