If I see one more cookie cutter Super Comp Dragster win Best engineered I'm going to scream.. I was under the impression that Best engineered was an award for innovation. Not for being the 10,000th guy to run a 240 inch long dragster with a 500+ INCH BBC in it.. BBahhhhhh...
 
Yep. I don't get how it works, but there must be some kind of method to the madness.
 
you see best engineering is based of the crome to powdercoat to oversized engines to run a super class ratio i think it is somthing lik $20000:$10000:600ci:8.90 that ratio will win the award
 
I agree. The .90 classes have a specific set of rules, where is the engineering? Maybe the hoses are routed well or the wiring is excellent, then give out a "best built" award NOT engineered.
 
Step 1 pass tech step2 enter your car for 1 or both awards step 3 walk around the pits and ask for votes from fellow racers,as explained to me by a former winner of both awards. it's that simple .
 
I saw this in person...........

I was at a div race at Las Vegas a few years back in the tower to collect some money for going a few rounds in super gas.Suddenlty the race directors remembered they needed to give out a Best Appearing award.They said lets give it to "so and so".Someone said he had already left.A few more names were brought up,and they had all lost and gone home. Finally someone said "Who is still here?" Then someone else said "Well Gary XXXXX just painted his car and he is still in eliminations,lets give it to him." After witnessing that process I can see that a whole lot of thought goes into these kinds of awards,LOL. Ed
 
Thats a pretty sad story to hear. It really makes me wonder the credibility of the award. On a positive note, didn't the Aeromotive turbo car receive the award at Indy? If so they atleast 'guessed' right that weekend, lol.

we have won it 3 times twice at divisonals once at a national. At the national we had to ask the tech guy about it because it was the second national that we had the car at, the fist was won buy a S/C car that was sponsored by the race sponser....... hmmmm... The tech guy brought around all of the other tech guys and they all looked the car over gave it to us. At the divisonals we didn't say anything and got it. My understanding was that at the divisonals the tech guys all pick a car that they like and then they decide from there.
