Hmmm....It's really not rocket science to figure out what's wrong with comp if people just pulled their head out of the sand. I'm sick of hearing "economy", Gainesville is too early, and guys can't get their cars ready. Last I checked, Gainesville has always been in March.....i'm sick of all the other excuses out there. The main difference I see are the changes in the grass root rules of the class, and people are fed up with it all. And the guys who were effected by the economy, when it's getting better, they look at it and say why would I go back to that class? But hey, what do I know. We live in the era of giving a trophy just for participating, and "oh, you can't go fast, we'll give you index to make everyone feel like their car is fast, and we'll punish the guys who work on their stuff to go fast to level out the playing field." How are all these ideas working out?

Wow! 49 cars 9 years ago to 17 this year. Lots of names and cars have disappeared in a short amount of time. I remember Indy always having 90+ trying to get into a 64 car show.

Oh...And I forgot to mention....Last I checked, there wasn't any qualifying money in 2008. Although that might play a small factor for some, I'm pretty sure that is not the reason for this drastic of a decline in car count.

Between people who have retired passed away or as Greg mentioned in jail I count 19 that plus 17 equals 36 so if we stopped dying going to jail and getting old we would be okay. Plus moving to Pro Mod or SS.

I was thinking the same thing! I always wonder why the folks that climb up to classes like Pro Stock - never come back to Comp when they are done in those classes? I have seen a few come back to Stock and Super Stock, but they rarely come back to Comp after PS/FC/TF, etc...

Something to realize that the DNQ list from 2008 (17) is just as long as the Entry List for 2017 (17)...

But I'm not really sure that I'm getting Pro Jack's point here... are you upset that rules changes have been made in an attempt to get guys off the bench??.. which in turn punishes guys who work on their stuff??.. which makes no sense, cause the fast guys got index back to play with also... OR, are you upset that, even with the rules changes, no one is getting off the bench??... which I also find to be disheartening...

Did you formulate a solution to your dilemma??
