Unbelievable Ashton, great work! You picked up a tenth to the 1/8th from 1st round to the 5th - that is some awesome progress my friend! Making all of the blue oval fans proud, very big accomplishment for all of the hard work you've put into that combination.

    Best - Mike Mans

Thank you all for the support. My transition from Super Stock to Comp this year has been an amazing adventure. Tucson, Houston, Dallas to Atlanta and expired 2 engines in the process. With a little help from my friends was able to get back to the track for the second half of the season. St Louis win was not expected and still hasn’t really sunk in yet.

There are many people that need some congratulations for this effort.

Mike Brink @ Brink Racecraft for the most awesome chassis and overall car engineering out there, along with Kenne and Darrell

Allen Sherman @ Sherman Racing Engines, a childhood friend and awesome machinist, consultant and dyno tuner

Darin Morgan @ Mast Motorsports, friend and awesome cylinder head developer and consultant

Ed Carpenter, Gregory Plauche, trackside crew and travel companions

Justin Jenkins, friend and driving consultant

Keith and Mawhee family, friends and trackside consultants

Kevin and Glen Self, friends and trackside consultants

Michael Compton and family, friends and trackside consultants

Bob Book @ Book Racing Enterprises for the fastest Carburetors - period.

Dave Smith and family @ ProTrans

Alan and Adam Bowdish @ A-1 Converters

    Darren Pocock @ Patterson Racing

    Dave Hughes @ HRE intakes

    Al @ Manton Pushrods

Jason @ Mark Williams Driveline products

Roger and Betty @ Lamb Components

Adam Drzayich @ Sportsman Racer Services

    Charlie Nelson @ Amalie Oil

    Bob @ Jesel

Mark Campbell and Buggy @ Comp Cams

Larry Cummings @ Sticky Mickies - MT Tires

    Randy @ Winberg Crankshafts

My supportive Wife, Mignon, and My Girls, Bliss and Ella

Jerry Arnold - posthumous - my comp hero

NHRA for providing us a venue and structure to conduct this CRAZY endeavor

Thank you to all who compete in this field, you guys have provided me with the inspiration to compete, your numbers and programs are amazing! Thank you!

Ashton’s post perfectly reflects his enthusiasm for Comp, and his appreciation for those who have helped him.

His humility is impressive coming from someone who’s done so much of the work himself.

We couldn’t be happier for you, Doc. You’re a winner... In Comp... With a freaking small block Ford!

Congrats again from the Mawhee Family!

    Ashton -

I sincerely appreciate you including myself and my family in your post. Obviously I was disappointed to lose in the semi's to you but lost the disappointment the moment your win light came on in the final. We were so happy we got to share the win with you the moment you got out of your car. Keep up the hard work!

    See you soon.
    Michael

Raymond, did you know that you ran against his father ( Hudson's Habit ) back in the day when you had all eight of your cylinders.

Ashton did an amazing job. I was with him in Tuscon. First race of the year in comp. First pass it blows up. Not a good way to start in comp. He never wavered and kept at it. Trust me he will be even faster next year. He is meticulous with everything he does. Smartest guy I know period. Proud to call him my friend.

I didn't know that but a lot of time has passed since I crossed over and went gay and starting running a (4) cylinder...

Congrats on the win! And thank you for taking the time to talk with my son and me at the St Louis national event (the ZX2 drew us to you). You said you needed to pick up another tenth to be competitive....didn't realize you accomplish that in only a week. I know Comp guys are always busy, so really appreciate that you took the time to talk with us and share the details of your combo. My son is a Ford guy, so you really have him stoked now, and you have gained a lifelong fan. Thanks again, and good luck going forward.
