Lots of good stuff, thanks. I don't have any 80's or 90's stuff to offer up, but here's a shot from back in 1978, when I was selling out and moving. Loved the old ramptrucks.
Also a great looking old 55 chevy gasser.
More from the Neff family archives....
Thanks for posting the pics.
In total disbelief The #1 WACO KID made it on here.
It was the first Comp car I worked on, other than my dad's, when PAt Corbett owned it. Him & Roy Johnson would go back & forth for B & C/EA record. It was probably the most succesful car Pat had owned. I think in 84 @ indy he put it in reverse in the lights.
I have a bunch of comp pics to upload from this year. The files are to big for the website, damn hiresolution camera.
1989. David Rampy's very first race in Comp Eliminator, which he won.
Bad Buddy's turbo Buick.
Larry Tores - D/EA Somerset funny car. Photo by Dan DeLaney, Indy, 1985.
I still like the ramp trucks. Those were just different days for sure. Thanks for taking the time to share. It's so easy to find old pics of the pros but nothing else. By chance, do any of you have old div 4 comp pics. Like Isonhood, Conrad, Coleman Roddy, Nickens (I saw a couple already), Ragsdale?
Here's something I just stumbled upon: http://rides.webshots.com/album/149436575ylgXar
I only ran div. 7 , so I'm no help there. I only have this one of Roddy.
Another well known car.
Comp Eliminator's history and variety of classes can be traced back to the mid-60s. For a short time AA Fuel Altereds competed in Comp.
The famous Winged Express driven by the late Wild Willie Borsch. (Side note; 76-year old Al 'Mousie' Marcellus still owns and tows with his 1967 Dodge Truck)
The Winged Express v4.0 still going strong 40 years later now driven by Mike Boyd.
here is a couple pictures of Jones and Moody's comp cars the have been restored and Jones had them at ET raceway couple years ago
The Gene Moody 1955 D/GAS is now owned by Peter Broadribb of Kingman, AZ.
Peter has tracked the history of this car, it was found in Banning, CA in 1988 and taken to Ashfork, AZ, then to Kingman, AZ around 1999/2000 where Peter found the car only 6 miles from his home. He took the car to the California Hot Rod Reunion in 2001 and again in 2004.
Peter is gathering information about the car and is in the process of authentic restoration of the drive train and interior. The car was originally painted by Lloyd Thompson Bloomfield, IN in 1961. The car has been repainted and letter like it was when Gene drove it.
Gene Moody won his class in at Indianapolis in 63, 64, 66, 67. He was crowned World Champion NHRA Street Eliminator in 1965. NHRA shipped the car by boat to Hawaii along with other cars for exhibition races. During the trip to Hawaii the car came loose from its riggings and the front wheel put a dent in the top of "The Little Redwagon"
here are a couple more
You know whats funny is im only 36 years old but I have driven 2 of these cars in pictures in this tread! The street roadster of Pattersons ( Procell brothers from Orange Tx .owned it 13 years ago when I drove it .......well attempted to drive it) and the Lindley C/ED ( borrowed from Cordis & Mary Johnson man that was a BAD RIDE!) Brings back some memories.
Speedude, where are you? We've put up a bunch of stuff and many have seen them. You've been on here this week and yet no comments or pictures. Just wondering, did you get what you wanted?
Thanks to everyone, who put up their stuff. It was some work, but I enjoyed the thread too.
Hey Mr. Jean lots of amazing pictures, sorry I've been signing on from time to time, but have been kept busy, a friend of mine had surgery yesterday, so I've been hanging around with him a lot. Actually what I had more in mind was more "modern" comp cars, I visit a few boards where people don't know much about comp, and a few examples of what each class is about would help me explain it to them a bit better. Although, I'm glad you posted a lot of those pictures, most of those were taken before I was born.

Good stuff. Yup, most of my stuff is way back. I guess it's my age showing. Hope your friend does well.
