How about a State that has a NHRA Divisional Meet and a car wrecks and they change the race to a 1/8 mile and suddenly everyone's PI goes away that took years to adjust and in some cases you might get a dime back added to your index. Only CIC counts, no permanent hits. Now folks, that's what I call a friendly State....

Why are all these tracks shortening the race surface??.. do y'all think Wally Parks would approve??.. not asking for a friend..

I've already heard all the insurance and safety equipment reasons.. still calling BS..

Charlie, I hate to say it this way, but if you were a track owner and had to deal with the dwindling attendance the difference in the insurance premium on a 1/4 mile vs a 1/8 mile race might be the difference between making money or not. BTW I heard from a pretty good source that Div 4 shortened race lost the owners a sizable sum of money. NHRA sells those races at such a high cost it not only takes a large number of cars, but a good sized spectator crowd to make money. Let's face it. times are changing. How many Div 1 tracks are no more?? Sold for the property value... 1/8 or 1/4 they aren't around any more..

It's not so much going to an 1/8 mile than giving PI back. They need to incorporate the present PI into a 1/8 mile format. Then I would say no complaints. The other thing is scheduling. I know the Corona has screwed up everything but no one needs to race in 102 actual degrees. We are very lucky there were no heat related serious incidents. Sitting in a race car with a 15 suit say over a 100 degrees outside is asking for a disaster to happen....
