Old fart trying to get back in the game

Just saw this, still looking for help? Not much on the second two, what carb or carbs are you running, engine size? C25 is a much better fuel, vaporization properties are better than the Sunoco fuel. Getting the carb or carbs to atomize fuel better is what you want to do, better boosters are the...

Help with new carb and pump

I have not opened their alcohol 4150's, but after you fire it up if you have issues or questions sign up at the forum below. http://racingfuelsystems.myfunforum.org/

Best 8 cylinder O2 monitoring set up?

8 O2's are a great way to see distribution in the engine, with a stocker it will help you if you have an area that needs more fuel. Your tools to get equal distribution are limited, but there are little things you may be able to help it with.

Best 8 cylinder O2 monitoring set up?

I've heard good things about the Daytona sensors, but the Racepak will be easiest to set up. And to link the Daytona you will need an interface.

    Let's talk Money

It seems unless you are getting significant sponsorship, using it as an advertisement for your own business, or have money to burn running a Comp car is not such a hot investment.

    Gotta Wonder Sometimes

Yep, only Mellow Yellow is allowed... And try running your car at a divisional or national with a Gatorade sticker on it... If that is true about a racer selling another fuel to help out that's pretty pathetic unless he is a VP dealer, that might be a little conflict.

Use of SR-18 by Pro Stock

You have to understand most of the chemicals used in the makeup of gasoline all have nearly identical BTU. This means they have the same performance potential. It will vary from engine to engine, however a fuel that vaporizes better has a better chance of burning more completely in all...

Use of SR-18 by Pro Stock

Chris, I don't have a dog in this hunt but I saw it coming before the season started. The vaporization properties are not as good as C25, and was certain to throw a curve at anyone not expecting it. The classes with carb restrictions would be likely to have less issues as vaporization is better...

    Jets

It's about the consistency of flow, as well as ability to make smaller changes. I use BLP jets almost exclusively on all my builds, for a gas thread they have from .055" to around .173" in .001 steps. The square edge hole in the Holley jets can vary a bunch if the edge gets nicked, BLP's are all...

Money. That's what it boils down to.

    Sunoco vs. VP Fuel

Bob, has there been any word from Sunoco on the fuel issue? If they are going to continue to provide a less than ideal fuel at least make it consistent. This has really got to be counterproductive to taking over the sponsorship. Bad press, bad for business outside the classes required to use it.

    Sunoco vs. VP Fuel

Versus tearing up an engine... more to gain fuel tuneup consistency not for power, although it would likely go back to almost the original tune and power.

    Sunoco vs. VP Fuel

With the fuels failing tech anyway I might be trying to mix a little Max-NOS (.734 SG) to C25 (.698 SG) to get the SG up to SR-18 specs (.704)... All three fuels are yellow... Put them in your SR-18 cans...

vinny Barone choses not to run div, races

Somebody once told me I shouldn't be traveling 4 hours from home to work, probably because I was taking work from locals. I told them it was none of their business, and who I was working for obviously wanted me there for a reason. I wouldn't let anyone's attitude stop me from racing.

    Sunoco vs. VP Fuel

Better vaporization leads to more even distribution and a more even burn. EFI won't be as affected where distribution is concerned, but it can still have an effect on how homogenous the mix is going into the combustion chamber.

    Sunoco vs. VP Fuel

Go the the VP link, look at the different fuels there. If you click on the spec sheet, last column on the right, you can look at the RVP and vaporization properties of different fuels. And I can hear a noticeable difference when testing carbs between C12 and Q16, the better vaporization...

    Sunoco vs. VP Fuel

You questioned why it would bog or misfire if the fuel burned slower. Fuel vaporization has a huge impact on detonation resistance, the easier and lower temps it will vaporize the faster and more complete it will burn, require less timing, in some cases less fuel. The better it vaporizes the...

    Sunoco vs. VP Fuel

When a fuel does not vaporize as well as another the burn characteristics in the combustion chamber will not have the same quality, sometimes to the point it will bog or misfire. And it may not even be a complete misfire, just an incomplete burn. In these cases you put more fuel in to have...

    Sunoco vs. VP Fuel

Read thru my posts here. http://www.insidecompracing.com/showthread.php?t=10551&page=3 http://www.insidecompracing.com/showthread.php?t=10582 The best I can suggest is when running an annular booster look at inserts with more smaller holes. With downlegs use a larger center hole and try a...

    Fuel Properties

If you can pump the pressure up on an EFI system it may help vaporize the fuel better.
