DO YOU HAVE A GOOD STORY FROM EARLY DRAG RACING?

One time at Eddyvile, in 1980, we were running s D/ED AHRA dragster, and that's when they let you drive your truck down the track to tow back, and a crew member jumped in, squashed a can of Pennzoil, and trailed it all the way down the track. I was embarrassed as hell.

    Whit Bazemore

He has a point that actually includes all classes. Remember before computers, and everyone had to clutch and shift? Way more interesting.

    Shane Heckel

    Shane Heckel

What a stand up guy. He's one in a million. I don't have room to type how special that guy is. I hope most of you comp guys get to know him, and what a honest guy he is. I'm proud to call him my friend, and I wish him all the luck in the future.

Most cars in same class at single event?

There were I don't know how many C/SM's at Indy in the late 70's. A bunch.

    Lost for words.

So sorry for all involved Shane. You know I mean that. Tough times don't last, tough people do.

    Tires

I'm no expert, but I've always been quicker with the stiff sidewall tire in a car of that wt.

Comp Did not race this year, but did get happily involved with Shane Heckel, who has the cobalt now, and is running my Buick stuff in SS/DM a little but broke the trans at Shrevport after only one run. They are testing again later, and have updated the car a lot, and next year will run some comp.

    Dale Ruff

Dale Ruff died today. He was from Bethany Missouri. He was a class act, and he was my friend. He was a hitter in the 60's and 70's, and he treated me, and other little guys as equals. He was a man among men. And he was a true racer.

    Doing away with pro stock?

Pro stock i think they actually just killed Pro Stock but that's just an opinion.

    Doing away with pro stock?

Pro Stock All this tells me is if half of these rumors are true, Pro Stock is all but dead. And other then Comp, there is no real NA drag racing left. Sad.

    Steel or Aluminum Rods?

    Steel or Aluminum Rods?

Rods I switched one motor, a 286, two years ago to Dyers Honda journal steel rods, and there were no ill effects. But, I'm far from an expert. They tell me it's better.

    Shane (Pork Chop) Heckel

Steve Thompson's nephew Ii know no one on this board knows a lot about Steve Thompson, but his nephew was killed last night in an accident in Vegas. He lived there. He was 20 years old. I didn't know Steve's brother or nephew, but I know Steve. He's the best friend, driver, competitor, racer...

    Street Outlaws

That would go over huge. I promise you. The attraction for street outlaws is no dial in. Comp already has that, but no one knows they exist.

    Drew Skillman

Pro stock definitely impressive to say the least.

    dambdest carbs

Dambest Other then jetting, I never messed with them. Al Parker did the air bleeds and floats on the dyno, and I pretty much just ran them.

Dambest Some of these Comp guys would be better to answer, but I will give my first hand experience. First, ordered a mod legal 750 to compare to my best 7050, (and I own 13 of these custom made) and it ran to the thousandth's of my best. Then sent in 2 660's to compare when we went to SS/DM...
