2002 through 2013 stats

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's a summary of index hits for the past 12 years. It includes the year, number of classes hit, total number of Comp classes that year, percentage classes hit, total hit in seconds, and average hit per hit class.

2013: 47 / 99 = 47%, 1.90 seconds = 0.040 per class
2012: 35 / 97 = 36%, 1.52 seconds = 0.043 per class
2011: 41 / 97 = 42%, 2.08 seconds = 0.051 per class
2010: 47 / 96 = 49%, 2.07 seconds = 0.044 per class
2009: 51 / 96 = 53%, 2.34 seconds = 0.046 per class
2008: 52 / 96 = 54%, 3.13 seconds = 0.060 per class
2007: 60 / 96 = 63%, 3.79 seconds = 0.063 per class
2006: 52 / 88 = 59%, 3.27 seconds = 0.063 per class
2005: 42 / 84 = 50%, 2.21 seconds = 0.053 per class
2004: 44 / 83 = 53%, 2.44 seconds = 0.055 per class
2003: 45 / 83 = 54%, 2.64 seconds = 0.059 per class
2002: 39 / 83 = 47%, 1.98 seconds = 0.051 per class

Patrick: Wouldn't it be easier for everyone to understand if you just listed all of the classes that has been hit so far this year , and by how much .

Pat did you take into consideration how much of the 2013 total was folks wiping out the Obama style index give back? If that were removed would it look more like 2012?

It would be significantly lower than 2012

2013 only had 30 hits on index or 30% that had a lower index than 2012

to answer your question with info taken from Del segura's spreadsheet of 2013

Per Pat Hale
2013: 47 / 99 = 47%, 1.90 seconds = 0.040 per class
2012: 35 / 97 = 36%, 1.52 seconds = 0.043 per class

new calculation
2013 30 permanent hits of 99 classes that went over giveback or did not have giveback. Example of hits that went over giveback: E/EA give back .02 then hit it total for .05 for a net 2013 hit of .03
no give back I/Dragster index stayed same as 2012 Hit .03 in 2013

18 regular hits that did not have any give back
12 hits that took more than their give back

17 Classes hit that did not take more than their giveback
Example B/D got .03 back from NHRA and only took .02 through out 2013 season
32 classes that had give back and did not take index hit

So in NHRA favor 49 classes that deserved give back (17 that had hits and 32 with no hits) but 12 that should have not had any give back
