Doing some bench racing and coming up with ideas to increase participation in Comp.
The main reason I bring this up with the problems Prostock is having I would like to see comp stay around
My latest ideas is remove personal index and CIC and go to a weight based system.
So after qualifying field is set, if more than 1/2 the cars are not .50 under or more it is considered a non mineshaft race. During eliminations all racers will run off the class index. If racer in a class goes more than .50 under index during eliminations only he will be hit with a permanent weight penalty of 10lbs for every .01 faster than .50 under. This will be permanent for that racer. Once a racer has had to add a total of 100lbs to their car the class index will then be adjusted.
Mine shaft rule would be if more than 1/2 the cars run more than .50 under in qualifying then weight penalty would be in effect at .55 under.
This does a couple things, everyone will know their class index, no ones will be different. It takes the CIC out of the equation during eliminations. Heads up runs will be off index with weight penalties still in effect.
Also will be easier for NHRA to enter into Computer timing as indexes will be set.
