InsideCompRacing.com presents our 'Hot Pix' Essentially it's our version of the Tricky Tipster. Feel free to add your own 'Pix' to the list.

IT'S FINALLY TIME TO GO RACIN!

Pomona

1. Michael Stone - Stone came very close to the World Championship last year, look for him to start another title run in Pomona.

2. Sal Biondo - One of the greats at driving the big end in a fast hot rod. Will give everyone a run for their money.

3. David Rampy - Hard to count Rambo out of any fight. Finished the year with a win in Vegas last year.

4. Tom Huggins - Ran very strong in his B/A last year, word has it he's been very quick in Vegas testing.

5. Vinnie Deceglie - Monster A/A is tough anywhere they show, should be a late round player.

6. Doug Lambeck - Potent Left Coast Super Mod hitter is always tough. Will not be an easy round for anyone.

7. Jeff Lane - One of the guys who like to go fast 'with the top down' in B/SR. Will be no surprise to see him in the late rounds.

8. Ross Wilson - Another potent Left Coast Super Mod hitter. Our Comp 'Dark Horse' pick of the week.

Don't be scared! Let's see your picks!:D :)

Thats a strong list of competors....By looking at your list most of those guys seem to protect their indexes and if I would make a guess the winner in pomona is going to have to shave some in order to get the win. Its going to be one hell of a race, thats for sure. A few guys that I can see going late rounds are:

Dave Barcelon - The little v8 will be strong in the good air, and I believe he still has momentum coming off his Allstars win.

Tom Huggins - Coming out with his new GTO which ran extremely fast in Vegas

Michael Stone - Most always deadly on the starting line and very good at cutting it close on the big end.....

Vinnie Deceglie - Always a contender in front of their hometown fans and customers...I look for them to put their new car in the winners circle

As for the dark horse pick I'm going with Alan Ellis..That a/aa flies and Alan is extremely good on the starting line. He had it flying toward the end of the season and if it doesn't shake watch out!

1- Sal Biondo Sharpest comp. racer at both ends, hands down
2- Dean Carter know what it takes to win
3- Rambo 2nd best comp. racer there
4- Randy Jones My dark-horse pick
5- Micheal Stone Always in the hun
6- Jeff Lane One tough out

I'm going with Sal Biondo ........... he has a good ride........... he can drive both ends of the race track.......... and he is way over due............ the E/AA was a consistent -.60 car at the end of last season and should be as good in Pomona............I'm having a problem trying to remember the last time Sal was worse than .050 on the tree in eliminations..........

It should be a crazy race with indexes in jeopardy starting in RD 1.......... but I'll stick with the guy from D1...........

I will go with Rampy and one of the seven B/AA to be in the finals…..

By the way, does anyone know why Brogdon and Self pulled out of Pomona??????

Roger & Lump

New trailer isn't here yet. Getting two cars there would have been a challenge.

Unk

Not only did we have a trailer problem, both cars had blown a head gasket.
Thats what happens when you run them on the edge but I really wanted to
go a 30.

That fact Unk knew this already is evidence of what the sportsmen racers lost when NHRA decided not to have him announce at National events. Len Imbrogno, please let your bosses know that we are not happy with their decision. Unk said it would do us no good to complain to them, but perhaps we could use you as an intermediary.

Dave, and everyone else for that matter,,,,,

Announcement coming next week.

I may not be announcing, but I'm still going to be around,,,,,, and especially where it concerns Comp.

Stay tuned,,,,,,,,,

Everybody forgot Ed Sigmon-good driver and he's qualifed number 4. He went to the semi's at the Pomona in nov and had lights of .026, .042, .018, and .021.
Vinnie and Lou Ficco put up a couple of numbers tonight. It looks like it'll be a good race. I'm really sorry about what happy to the Cocuzza car.

interesting Q sheet

I too am sorry to hear about Phil's car. It is/was a nice race car, hope it's repairable!

#1 Ficco B/AA vs #17 Marshall B/AA

#16 Rampy vs,,,,, Ooops, no #32, think David will want to stay #16?

#5 Sal vs #21 Stone. Would be an interesting matchup, no?

I know there will be some movement tomorrow, but it's interesting in the way it reads now, huh.

I'm sticking with D1 Biondo.......... however, I noticed that a lot of guys were having some tire shake and spin problems......... this being said, I think that Michael Stone may be having a problem getting the C/ED to hold the track........ If he gets it figured out, he would be the dark horse pick...........

Bob with a 31 car field, #1 would get the bye first round, not # 16...

16 would run 31, 15 - 30, 14 - 29, 13 - 28, 12 - 27, 11 - 26, 10 - 25, 9 - 24, 8 - 23, 7 -22, 6 - 21, 5 - 20, 4 - 19, 3 - 18, and 2 - 17...

Hopefully your news is very good news!!!

Honestly,

I just plain forgot about the adjusted sportsman pairings on a short field,,,,, my bad.

Still, tho' was some shufflin going on that last session. That's what makes Comp interesting,,,,, 32 guys/gals all playing the same chess game @ the same time.

ALWAYS interesting to see how it plays out.

Good news?
YEA, I think so, and for EVERYONE in Comp.

Unk;

Good to hear from you. I, like everybody else, thinks you got the shaft for whatever reasons they want to give. Anyway, if your going to drive a comp car, I'm coming out of retirement and lining up beside you. LOL.......: As far as my picks,

1. Rampy- who's won more?
2. Biondo- Charlie, I agree with you. He's way overdue.
3. Vinnie- He's tough in Pomona
4. Carter- He's just tough.
