Soft/Tough indexes in '06?

Right about where they should be...........sorta

Well, with the ridiculous 16.4lbs they're throwing at me in DD/AT, I guess everything with that class is right about where it's supposed to be. In CC/AT that 8.00 seems quite soft, as I've seen cars in CC/AT trim go 6.60's. Oh well.....8.30 is "reasonable", I suppose. I just don't understand why they would throw so much weight at us when our car can weigh 2000lbs. in Sport Compact. Now we have to weigh 2360, run a smaller turbo, and run gas only......not what I had in mind for this class at all. It would be great if they'd allow us a bigger turbo, because a 72mm is just tiny compared to what we DO run (80mm). I don't see what's wrong with methanol, either. If they're "aiming" these classes at Sport Compact cars that are already built/already running, they didn't do a good job of it. Just my opinion.

Although I'm not all that familiar with the power to weight ratios for blown cars as pertaining to their performance, I think that the 8.30 index for AA/SM is on the soft side............ from what I'm hearing, the cars are capable of going 7.30's or 7.40's........... a second under makes the index a bit too soft from where I'm sitting........... and just the opposite, the B/ND index is a tough one......... I thought that NHRA's intention by making this class was to make it inviting to racers that like the A/ND class but didn't have the bucks for the really trick stuff, thus the head rule for B/ND............ it would have been exciting for A/ND to get aluminum heads and a bigger tire and B/ND to stick with the iron heads and the small tire.........

I'd have to agree all around The B/ND index is going to be a tough one. NHRA dropped the ball a bit with the turbo cars and the AA/SM index looks to be about 2 tenths soft to me.. But I'm sure we will find out very quickly come the beginning of the season.. I personally am Building an H/EA beacuse the index looked alittle soft and I could get in without the huge budget.. With any Luck those with soft index's will hit them selves early and even things out..
