1 - Comp is never going to get easier, only tougher each and every day - just like real life.

2 - Somebody will always have more power, more money, newer car, etc - called evolution / technology.

3 - If you want personal handicaping, try golf or horses - I don't know sh*t about either one but I'm sure their are forums out there to educate.

4 - Comp has always been the ultimate performance/ thinker/ tough guy/ ass kicker horsepower class - it's what keeps most of us chasing this sh*t.

5 - Is it perfect? No, but with proper tech and rule enforcement for all it could be better. This weekend our tech guy pumped half the field, checked wheelbase and other items to keep people honest.(not that anybody in comp is dishonest)

6 - If you think somebody' combo is bogus, grow some nads, put up the money and have it taken apart. If the guy's legit - he'll be happy to keep your money, if he's not, you get your money back and get to smile.

7 - Be happy comp is still around to be able to race, this sh*t is never going to be worth what you paid for it so get over it. Just like buying a new car and driving it off the lot.

8 - Work with NHRA to eliminate "grey areas" in the rules. Clearly define what transbrake switches are legal, lockup converters, electric timer shifters, etc.

9 - Hard work and dedication are supposed to be a virtue in this country, comp is no different, nobody is gauranteed a .70 under class, work hard at it just like Carter with his BND that everybody said wouldn't go .55 under and look for results.

10 - Any type of competitive motorsport is going to cost a fair amount of money, karts, boats, roundy-rounds, sprints, road race etc. - pick one and give it your best shot. Drag racing - especially comp is no exception.

11 - I don't have alot of money to piss off on comp and even less brains but since I went to Fremont Raceway in 1977 and saw comp run, I knew that someday that is what I wanted to do.

12 - Get back to working on your sh*t - quit reading this garbage and wear somebody' ass out next time.

    The Way It Is....

Alan...you no good son of a b...ch, what you say is what don't get said. You ran good this weekend and I am sure it was because of that new weather station we rammed down your throat. Get to work....Martel is in C/AA, but I guess you knew that....being the rocket scientists you all are in that camp.

    Speaking of Dean Carter

Congrats on your great weekend in Sonoma!

Also, we were at the Cordova points race this weekend and the Racers for Christ chaplin's wife, Cam Webb, was injured in a freak motorcyle accident. She was transported to a local hospital for observation. We want them to know that we are praying for her and hope she has a speedy recovery.

Look, the personal index idea was a debate. It was one of the best debates on this forum in a long time. No one is forcing you to be for the idea. That's why it is called a debate. When I say debate, I define it as being a discussion that covers all defficiencies of a proposal. The bottom line is, no, the idea won't work, since almost no one is for it, and since it has its flaws that run the risk of being absolutely unacceptable. Even if the idea had only good values with no bad values, the answer is still no for the reason that not everyone was for the idea.

No one should have to face criticism of any kind. Alan, I can't quite say that we don't need to work on our car, but this idea wasn't about us, it was about everyone. I didn't go through all of that debating just for our operation. I'm not a selfish or self-centered person. When I see something happen that may very well put several racers out of racing comp, I try to determine what will keep this from happening.

Once again, everyone has and is entitled to their own opinion, and I respect that since an opinion is what makes a debate worth having.

    Have a nice day!

Just to be redundant, I'll agree with what everyone said.

I'm guilty of throwing a few new ideas out there for discussion, but good points.

Not looking for handouts by any means, but I would like to throw down some facts.

The only thing that one can do to work on his/her car that doesn't cost loads of money is waxing the paint and polishing the wheels. The facts are still the same, to pick up .05, you're looking at spending THOUSANDS. Even after spending thousands, there is no true guarantee that you will pick up.

    Just my thoughts!

    How much money does it cost to;

    1- change jets
    2-change startline rpm
    3-change tire psi
    4-adj clutch weight
    5-adj wing
    6-change trans ratio
    7-change rearend ratio
    8-adj struts
    9-adj shocks
    10-change converter stall
    11-shift point rpm

I know that not all of these apply to every car in comp but if you are not looking at some of this stuff each run, you are a better tuner/owner/driver than I am. My hats off to you!

Do you guys fight and ridicule each other like you do everyone else? Alan makes more sense than anyone else on this board. Plus, he had the nads to say what he thought.

Do any of you remember the old Compuserve Drag Racing message board?

Someone is starting to remind me of good old Dustin Whipple...
