Only 8 Cars in Epping

Looking at DRC results and showed only 8 cars racing Div 1 epping. I had to do a double take. That number rivals Div 2 or 6. Where did everyone in division 1 go, retired or ? Need a Rodger Brogdon in the north east to keep comp alive.

 

People are tired of racing this index bs…. Don’t have the money to buy a new motor after you or someone else whacks your index. Plus the shit amount of money you win and chasing contingency just isn’t worth it. No one new is building a car to come race comp.

plus it’s the week before Indy, with the cost of diesel and parts right now people are saving their shit for Indy.
Billings was actually a great turnout compared to years past and we could of had two more cars if it wasn’t for Indy being the weekend after

 

No one else can whack your index unless they have a tenth on you and in that case man the first go up and go faster.

We’ll Joe is correct on pay out and having to chase contingency payments…. I think it’ was $500 for runner up. There were low car counts in all but TS and TD. Traveling in north east is brutal, roads suck, traffic sucks, and tolls are expensive….

 

Road tolls, cost of fuel, and cost to compete compared to the return on winnings, you have to pick your events carefully...

 

It's a shame, because Epping is a great track.. but the cost to travel there, plus the fact that most of the highways to get there beat the crap out of your equipment, don't make it very inviting when looking at the returns IF you happen to win..

While many racers will tell you they aren't in this sport for the money, I will tell you that many are not in it to piss their money away either.. the prize for winning, in many cases, doesn't even equal the costs to be there..

 

8 cars at Epping??.. howzabout 5 cars at Charlotte??.. I would think that Charlotte has the ability to draw from three Divisions, yet only 5 cars??.. WOW!!!.. at least Epping can always claim that y'all just can't get there from here..
