Within the past year many of you indicated that it was a tough class, no one will even try it, give the index back a dime, etc..
I'd like to hear comments from some of the same people now.
Should NHRA give some index back???
I cut and pasted a few of the comments below:
*b/nd - too tough
*the B/ND index is a tough one......... I thought that NHRA's intention by making this class was to make it inviting to racers that like the A/ND class but didn't have the bucks for the really trick stuff
*I'd have to agree all around The B/ND index is going to be a tough one.
*the B/ND class index is harder than it may look especially considering it's a new class
*the B/ND might not be affected as much because of the injection, but in my opinion NHRA made the index a bit tight for a new class
*what's the 5 toughest indexes? ....Looks like the preseason talk was right... hardly any takers on B/ND.
*Nobody has built a B/ND this year to my knowledge because the index NHRA gave out was too stiff.
*guess I won't build that B/ND after all
*p.s. Now lets see if NHRA will give b/nd five or ten
*look at C/T its still to tough an index and it never has been given any index back. B/ND might be in that same boat .
*One reason we didn't build an A/ND this year. Maybe a B/ND if NHRA will look at the index.
*I seem to Recall people saying that the B/ND index at 7.80 was too hard at the beginning of the year will Carter just went 7.07 so I guess it must not be too tough
I didn't mean this to be a bash B/ND thread, but the B/ND case can spark discussion about new indexes in general.
Just like just about every new class that NHRA has come up with in the last 10 years, the new indexes are VERRRRRRRY forgiving for any racer who puts a reasonable effort into it. Guys who run the old classes (A thru F dragster, A thru E econo dragster, non-AT Super Modified, A thru D Econo Altered, ........) have to struggle with old, tired, beat up, indexes and can't hold a candle to the new classes (until the new class indexes get under control, which is usually takes about 2 or 3 years).
I don't have a problem with new classes, but I think that NHRA should have a committee consisting of two comp. drivers/owners from each division (elected by the drivers/owners) to discuss any and all new indexes and non-CIC index adjustments. The committee should meet twice a year (via conference call, emails, chat room, etc.) to review indexes.
In a perfect world, all 32 qualifiers would run -0.50 under (or the field would be separated by no more than ~0.07).
