Rodger Brogdon awarded “Goodguy of the Year”
This past weekend during the NHRA Lucas Oil division Four awards banquet in Houston TX, Rodger Brogdon was awarded the prestigious Division 4 “Good Guy of the Year” award. The award was presented this year to Brogdon for his continued behind the scenes efforts that include sponsorship of the Comp Eliminator category in the division and establishing and maintaining an eliminator bonus contingency program that is now being duplicated across the country. Rodger this past year also established a “Raise the Roof” fundraising program to generate support for announcer Lynn Nickerson and his battle with cancer. The program has generated a tremendous response from all spectrums of the racing community, as well as a substantial amount of fan support and contributions for the ailing Nickerson.
For Brogdon, a multi time division champion and two-time “Driver of the Year” it was a fitting conclusion to a very productive campaign in the Lucas Oil sportsman ranks. With the start of the 2007 POWERade championship season just thirty days away, this weekend also saw Rodger’s team put the finishing touches on a new Jerry Haas Pro Stock Dodge Stratus that the team plans to debut at the season opening Winternationals.
First laps for Rodger will come this week in Houston as the team shakes out the new car, and then it’s off to the various test sessions in the south before heading to Las Vegas for the Pro Stock Showdown on February third. With a supply of fresh David Nickens Hemi power plants loaded in the trailer, the team plans for numerous test sessions to get both car and driver dialed in prior to the start of the 2007 season.
With Rodger Brogdon’s noted driving ability, and the additions to his championship team that have occurred during the off season, the Pro Stock category just got that much that much tougher. 2007 is going to be a very interesting year.
