Buick head total timing

How much timing is everyone running with Dart/Buick heads. Also what kind of timing are you pulling on nitrous. This is in a land speed car so no information given will be used against you at any time. Just looking to see what the law of averages is!!! Thanks

On a 288 C.I. 40 degrees with C-25, 45 with C-14. On a 280 41 degrees with C-25, 45 with C-14. On a longer stroke probably in the 30's with C-25, and low 40's with other. Hope this helps.

Wow damn. I'm running c16 3.34 stroke 4.165 bore 364" We stopped at 32* during the last tuning session bc of a time constraint. It looks like I can put a bit more in it. Thanks

Depends on the total timing, piston dome, stroke, and all. I also knew a guy with a 280, that had 37 total degrees, but it's worth a shot to bump it up and see. We pulled the most with C-25 at 40.
 
Be very careful on the buick heads.. depending on your combustion chamber, many of the heads need to have the spark plug spaced in or out. The timing will vary as much as 6 degrees to get it right. Bottom line without knowing more about your chamber/sparkplug combo its a guess. you can call me if you like. Gary Chomiski 806-678-6937
 
Looks like 37* was the magic number. Made 600 to tires with a nitrous cam and cast manifold. Thanks for the help!!

Thanks Randy. We need some valve springs right now they are dying. It was down about 100hp on the dyno before we left for the race but couldn't find anything obvious and everything checked out. The springs made themselves very apparent on the track above 8k. We left a ton of speed on the table. It will be ready for next year!!!

30 and creep up look for mph?
