I'm calling bullshit on qualifying with the class index and not your personal index. Who in the hell thought of this. You either have personal indexes are you don't. Can anyone give me a reason other than it's too hard to keep up with. This is total bullshit. What reason can you give for someone who has been hit with a personal and then qualify and knock someone out of a higher qualifying position. If it takes a different program with names instead of classes for qualifying so be it. You have allowed personal indexes so deal with it. This needs to be fixed immediately.

I was told the class index is used to ensure in the event there are multiple cars in the
same class the faster car would be the higher qualified car... Yes you may have
a PI but if your the fastest A/SM car outta 3 on the grounds you should be the highest
on the sheet.

I'm still calling bullshit on it. What about the cars just below you that you knocked out of higher qualifying positions. If there are multiple cars in the same class it's heads up when they meet pretty much insuring the fastest car should normally win anyway. Thanks for the input though.

I think another good reason to qualify off of personal is so we will know ahead of time if they have our indexes correct. I will say though that div. 3 does a very good job of keeping up with this. When they post the ladder it has your personal hand written beside your name for all to review. There is nothing worse than sitting on the starting line with your car getting hot waiting for the tower to make corrections.

That exact thing happened to me first round as they had Don Thomas's index wrong at Tulsa this past weekend after he knocked the world champ out of the first qualifying spot. You couldn't read the index from my lane as a glare and a couple blubs was out on the scoreboard displaying the index after some redneck with a Polaris in the back of his truck with a flag pole took out the power line to the Tulsa Raceway for about 5 hours. The world champ's crew actually alerted the starter as we had already staged. Like I say I'm calling bullshit on qualifying not using PI's. FIX it NHRA!!!!!!!!!!!

If the redneck hadn't knocked the power out I would have went to the #1 spot on the ladder. Jk but for real it makes it real hard too keep up with how fast everyone is when they qualify and race off of different indexes. I would prefer you race and qualify with your "very own personal index". It is yours you own it and deserve it!!!

I was gonna pulley don and Craig!!!!! Right Greg.

I think it would look stupid to have 7 B/DA with 7 different indexes on the qualifying sheet. If you get to that point why even have classes. Just call NHRA, tell them your combination, they will give you an index to go racing. Then try to keep track of everyone's index. The key is information. They need to provide racers with all the information, indexes, and CIC throughout the weekend.

Doesn't matter how stupid it would be, the stupid is already done with personal indexes. Now that they are here they need to be personal which includes qualifying because that's what your suppose to handicap off of and everybody would know. Apparently it wasn't apparent because they had it wrong on my first round opponent.

Ray,
Its different for sure. And can get complicated because this is all new. But its what we got to deal with and it acutely levels the playing field out a little bit. You do know that you had a better shot at wining against Don then you did if you had Craig?

It might be better to think of personal index's as not an Index but an automatic CIC starting in round 1.

I am actually amazed on how many people have personal hits already. Just think if those were all class hits!

While I do believe that the personal index concept will help the class, and hopefully get some guys back to the track, I have to agree with Mr Martin on his complaint...

It is not fair that the class index is used for qualifying, and then the personal index takes effect for the first round.. if your personal index has been hit, you may be getting an advantage on the qualifying ladder by using the class index.. it does have a flip side though, as in 1st round, you're already down, and your opponent is that much closer to you..

My concern would be that everyone will be running off a ladder that is not accurate.. the personal indexes should be used during qualifying, because it represents what your performance actually is, and places you properly on the ladder..

HOLY CRAP!!.. did I sound like I am agreeing with Raymond Martin??
