"Trying" to sell it...Not much interest in a old comp car even though it has been completely rebuilt last year. Hope to run a N/A combo next year,tired of all the aborted runs,burned up clutches,and all the other hassels of running a high hp deal.This car has humbled me to the point where I even question if I should be running a comp car... Looks like I'm gonna have to give it away to sell it so I will prob have to sit a few years out to save up for something else.

Back to topic,Jirka is in the final against Lane...

When Jirka showed up....and the Boss (Les Davenport) stepped out of the trailer, we all knew something was up. You will find him at any given race...in the alcohol pits, not the Comp pits, he was on a mission and it was no surprise to us....the 1st 5 second run in Comp, happened. Good job, Jirka, that's comin' to a gun fight with ALL the guns loaded.
 
That run is very impressive. Congrats to Jirka and crew. It will remain in the book forever.

ps. On this side of the world ( Belle Rose ) The most impressive run that will not see a record book, was Steve Kent's E/A (-58) 7.730 in the last Q session. The heat was bad and the air was worst. To put it in better terms, Rampy hung his car out to try and move up and could only go -52.
 
How does a comp car get to run quicker than 6 sec. and a TD car cannot. I doubt his car has a head shroud, legal wing stand or any of the other required safety equipment.

Jirka's car has a pro tag on it and is certified 5.00 and slower.

As to top dragster vs. comp, kind of like comparing apples to oranges. Top dragster from the beginning was established as a "6.00 and slower class". Comp eliminator has never been under such a limitation.

Jody,you are wrong.Jirkas car IS legal to go faster then 6.00 flat.He made sure of it when he allmost ran in the fives a few years ago. It is setup just like a alcohol funny car chassis.

Want to run in the fives? Get a alcohol chassis...

Like others have said,they don't allow it in top comp because it's a 6.00 and slower class.It's NOT a performanced based class either,comp is so they allow you to run as fast as possible if you meet the safety standards and Jirka does.

Mark, we race in Top Dragster not top comp(whatever that is). My chassis when built in the spring of 07 was built to and certified to quicker than 6 sec. by an NHRA chassis inspector. Cars owned by troy Stone Eddie C. and others are built to cert also. The NHRA in their wisdom said that due to some of us not having TAD legal wing stands, head protectors, safety shutoffs, Etc. that even though or chassis were legal due to the fact that these parts did not meet TAD spec's we could not not run quicker than 6 sec. I know that Jirka's car does not have a legal wingstand or cage surround. I could care less if he runs in the five's or not..... I just don't see how a comp car is more safe than my TD/ Outlaw dragster. It could be that they (the NHRA) don't wan't TD cars that could qualify for a TAD field (with a roots and powerglide) in my case. Just don't piss down my neck and try to tell me it's raining. And before someone chimes in on the safety of us running a second quicker than the othercars in our class ( 5.85 to an avg. of 6.80 in my case) I've seen some comp cars race each other with a two second diff.

The Nhra adopted a popular IHRA class TD and mirriored their rules.... since it was started in the IHRA, where we can run as fast as we want too, and not the NHRA I'd say it was not established as a 6.00 and slower class. The NHRA may be trying to keep us slow for some other reason.
 
Sorry Jody,I just don't see what the big deal is. Top Dragster is a DIAL IN class,there is no reason to run quicker then a 6.0. It gives you no advantage. NHRA has to set the min somewhere and they decided on 6 flat.

Lets get back to topic,Jirkas awesome run,something he has been trying to do for a long time and finally did.:)
